Documents

Which documents do you need to hand in a car to the scrapyard?

Before handing over the vehicle, prepare the documents below. Without them we cannot issue the takeover certificate you need for deregistration.

Required documents

  • Vehicle registration certificate (technical card) — part I
  • Vehicle registration document — part II (where applicable per national rules)
  • ID card

If someone else hands over the vehicle instead of the owner, a written power of attorney is required.

Missing registration documents?

Lost or destroyed documents can be reissued. Duplicates are issued by the traffic authority responsible for the vehicle’s registration. We recommend arranging this before handover — without papers we cannot correctly complete documentation.

What happens to the documents?

At handover you submit the registration documents to us. They are forwarded as part of the statutory recycling process. You keep the certificate of takeover of the old vehicle — keep it; you need it at the authority for deregistration.

Summary

You need: registration certificate, registration document and ID. If another person hands over the car — also a power of attorney. Obtain duplicates in advance if anything is missing.
